Master of Social Work, BHumServ (Rehab Couns), MAASW
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 17 years’ experience supporting diverse and vulnerable individuals and communities across Australia. I have always been passionate about supporting others to find happiness, balance, optimising physical, emotional and mental health, and living the best life possible. I consider each person has capacity for healing and self-empowerment, and that life can often present us with challenges leading to mental health vulnerability, requiring support and connection with others to navigate adversity, complex circumstances and to find meaning. In my practice, I use a collaborative, genuine, curious and compassionate approach, with respect for individual differences and experiences.
I initially started my profession supporting people with a disability in developing their confidence, skills, capacity and overcoming barriers to return to work while maintaining and improving their physical health, mental health and exploring creative solutions to complex circumstances. Throughout my career, I have worked with people across the lifespan, including those experiencing mental health challenges, trauma, family and domestic violence, financial distress, homelessness, grief and loss, adjustment issues, and complex social circumstances. I also have experience supporting current and former military personnel and their families during periods of transition, crisis, loss, and adjustment.
My practice integrates a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach. I hold advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy (Level 2), which enables me to offer evidence-based EMDR interventions for trauma and a range of mental health concerns. I also utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, mindfulness, relaxation strategies, problem-solving, and solution-focused interventions as appropriate to support each individual’s goals. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and respectful of individual differences. I am committed to fostering a safe therapeutic environment where individuals can explore challenges, develop strategies, and build on their strengths.
