Individual Therapy for Adults

Seeking support for anxiety, depression, burnout, life changes, or low self-esteem? Our psychologists offer confidential, warm and collaborative therapy to help you manage challenges and build on your strengths. We work with you to clarify your goals and match you with a therapist and approach that suits your needs, whether that is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Expressive Therapy, or mindfulness-based methods.

Most sessions are 50 minutes, available in person at Birkdale or by telehealth. We tailor the number of sessions to your needs. Some people come for brief, focused work, while others prefer a longer-term approach.

Couples & Relationship Counselling

Relationships can be rewarding and, at times, deeply challenging. Whether you are facing communication difficulties, trust concerns, or the impact of life stresses, our psychologists provide a safe, supportive space to work together and reconnect. Couples counselling can help you develop greater understanding, improve communication and strengthen your bond. We work with couples at all stages, whether dating, married or partnered.

Therapy for Children & Adolescents

Our team supports children and teenagers facing emotional, social or behavioural challenges, including anxiety, mood concerns, family changes, or problems at school. We create a welcoming environment and use age-appropriate approaches, helping young people build resilience, confidence and skills to thrive. We also work closely with parents and carers.

Common concerns we assist with include:

  • School refusal or social difficulties
  • Emotional regulation and coping skills
  • Behavioural issues and family transitions
  • Self-esteem and identity exploration

Referrals, rebates and fees

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, which covers a set number of sessions per calendar year. Some private health funds also offer rebates for psychology under extras cover; you cannot claim from both for the same session.

Our current fees are listed on the fees page. Please confirm the fee when you book, and tell us if cost is a barrier so we can talk about options.
